(Keep in mind this game is in Pre-Alpha and things are subject to change. Object Outlining will be fine tuned throughout development.) Quick Update Welcome to another quick update on what I have been working on... My main focus was to start and complete the storage system (not the only way storage will be done, but a quick way for you to store your crops to keep them organized and how you will be making them available to your customers in your privately owned shop. This system will be the feature that leads to a functional Player Owned Shop, which is slated next after everything that still needs to be done is finished. In the video above you will see that you are now able to build your Storage Containers, whether it is a Crop Display (more options to come) or it's just a standard Metal Freight Storage Container that you will see in any backroom of most retail shops. In the future you will have another storage option, but I'm going to save that for when the player owned market is more fleshed out. What I wanted was an easy experience for the player to place their crates of product without any delay. I wanted it to be as user friendly as I could make it while keeping immersion in play. I thought what is the best way to do that, but to have the crate leave the players hands and physically land where the player would like to place it as if you were actually placing the crate there in person. Later on you will see labels along with other missing details that aren't there now. This is just the system working as intended with all of the needed information in the background, the rest is just graphical work for the player to see it all. I also want to keep this immersion with the Player Owned Shop system as well, so you can expect similar interactions to make you feel like you're actually running the shop, not just standing there collecting fat stacks from very basic AI. My idea here is to make it feel like you are really standing in a market and selling your hard labor work. That said, this system was developed with the thought of expansion, meaning that I can put this system anywhere I see fit. All I have to do is place a "Crate Spot" on something and you will be able to place a crate there no problem as you see in the video. Yes, that means I can easily attach these babies to maybe a horse cart or vehicle... whatever I want that I see fits a purpose for you to get your products around. I'll let your mind wonder here as you can only imagine the possibilities at this point. So... What is next? Well, the next part is me getting all the graphical work done and linking it to the coded variables with the needed information for the player to see. Next, I'll be doing scene work and attempting to start on the Money system that will give everything purpose (and yes I'm also planning on trying to make that system immersive as well.) After those things are done, I will begin working on the Player Owned Shop. Once, the features are working as intended in the shop, then comes the User Interfaces for Economy and everything else needed to bring all of the running of a shop together. As you will also need to pay the bills for the place you own, can't expect it all to be free can we ;)? Shop Expansions and Owning of More Plots will then be my next thing to tackle, which will be a part of the Very Early Access phase of the game. What is Very Early Access? Well, that is where you'll be able to buy into playing the game before Steam Early Access! You'll be able to play the game in its current state along with helping me shape the game before it goes into Steam Early Access, as I want it to be great experience when it hits Steam to give it the best chance it has to be a successful and fun game. At that point everything will be in a good spot for the traffic Steam can bring to the game and I won't feel bad about it. I love where the game is at this point and I can't wait to get all the rest done, you should expect Very Early Access to be sometime next year if things going this smoothly. I will let you know if anything changes next year. That's all I have for you guys this week, thanks for checking back for news and I hope you enjoy the video above! Good bye.. for now... ;D |
